From Counter to Two Studios: My Creative Journey
Share
Every creative journey has humble beginnings, and mine started with nothing more than a book on my kitchen counter and a dream to create something beautiful.
The Beginning: A Counter and a Vision
It all began with a simple setup - just a counter space and a book to press flowers in. And maybe a nudge from my daughter Ashlee, owner of Simply Roses Florist. I had always been drawn to the beauty of preserved flowers and the mesmerizing art of resin work, but I never imagined where that initial curiosity would lead me.
Those early days were filled with experimentation, learning from mistakes, and discovering the magic that happens when creativity meets passion. Every small project taught me something new, and slowly but surely, my little counter space became the birthplace of what would eventually become Blessed & Pressed, LLC.
Growing Beyond the Counter
As my skills developed and my passion grew stronger, it became clear that my creative vision needed more space to flourish. The counter that once seemed adequate was now overflowing with supplies, works in progress, and the tools of my trade.
The transition wasn't just about needing more room - it was about honoring the craft and giving each art form the dedicated space it deserved. Resin art requires specific ventilation and curing areas, while pressed flower work needs gentle handling spaces and proper storage for delicate botanicals.
Two Studios, Two Passions
Today, I'm blessed to have two full studios, each designed specifically for its craft:
The Resin Art Studio: This space is equipped with proper ventilation, temperature control, and all the tools needed to create stunning resin pieces. From mixing colors to achieving that perfect glossy finish, every element of this studio supports the technical demands of resin work.
The Pressed Flower Studio: Here, delicate flowers are carefully preserved and transformed into beautiful framed art. This studio houses my flower presses, drying racks, and framing materials - everything needed to capture nature's beauty and preserve it forever. I must mention this studio is also home to a "BOTANIQUE" commercial freeze dryer! The crowning jewel of Blessed & Pressed.
The Heart Behind the Art
While the physical space has grown tremendously, the heart behind every piece remains the same. Each creation is still made with the same love and attention to detail that I put into those first pieces on my counter.
This journey reminds me that every dream, no matter how big, starts with a single step. Whether you're just beginning your own creative journey or you're looking to expand your artistic horizons, remember that great things often have humble beginnings.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Every piece I create is infused with gratitude for customers like you who appreciate handcrafted art and support small businesses following their dreams.
