Hurricane Season & Flower Preservation: How I Plan for Your Blooms

Preserving wedding bouquets is delicate work and hurricane season in Florida adds an extra layer of challenges. If you've ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes, here's a peek into how I plan around storms and protect your blooms.

THE FREEZE DRYING PROCESS: A two week commitment! Once I begin preserving a bouquet it goes into professional freeze dryer for 14 days straight running 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  During that time, it cannot be interrupted - no stops, no restarts. This process ensures your flowers retain their color shape and beauty.

Why power matters so much? Because the machine runs continuously, even a brief power outage can ruin the entire preservation cycle. And during Florida's summer storm season that's a real risk - especially with daily thunderstorms or hurricane watches.

How I plan around storm season I take this part of my work very seriously. Here's how I keep your flowers safe: Weather Monitoring: I track local forecasts for power outage risks before starting any preservation cycle. Run Schedule: I schedule my two week preservation sessions during windows of low storm activity, usually avoiding peak hurricane threats altogether. Back-up prep: I'm actively working toward backup power solutions like battery or generated systems to ensure future cycles are even more secure.

Why it matters This isn't just a process it's your bouquet, your memories, your love story in bloom. I treat every flower with respect and the care it deserves and that includes making sure it's preserved safely even through a Florida summer.

From the studio if you're planning a wedding during storm season or just wondering how your flowers will be handled, know this:  I'm here watching the skies and working with intention during the safest times possible.
